A delegation of Central Electoral Commission of the Republic of Moldova, headed by Ole Holtved, election expert from Belgium, visited the State Enterprise “State Information Resources Centre “Registru”.

The meeting was held by Mr Vasile Ciornii, Vice director general of the State Enterprise “State Information Resources Centre “Registru”, who presented shortly the primary activity of the Ministry of Information Development and one of the main information systems – Automatic Information System „ACCES-1”.

The aim of the meeting is to revise the present situation of State Register of Population that contributes to the accomplishment of the system of implementing the State Register of Electors. Useful and complete information about every elector is necessary for creating favourable conditions for every voting power citizen to take part in elections. Information about registration and concrete residence address of every elector is necessary and obligatory for determining the voting stations and for assurance of election process transparency.

Therefore, the parties agreed to create a common action plan of establishing concrete solutions for the implementation of State Register of Electors system as soon as possible. The creation of a State Register of Electors for every electoral process, including the elections from spring, 2009, is considered to be an important step for further development of information society in the Republic of Moldova.
