During the first three months of the current year moldovans purchased more automobiles than last year

According to the information offered by the State Enterprise “Registru”, during the first quarter of the year 2005 about 860 new automobiles were registered in the Republic of Moldova, which is 10% more than during the same period of the last year. The first place in the sales list is traditionally occupied by a Russian enterprise “AvtoVaz”, which sold 400 automobiles in the Republic of Moldova, the most popular model among these being “Vaz 2107”. The total number of cars of this model sold in the Republic of Moldova is 147. The second place is occupied by “Toyota”. 48 cars of this brand were sold. The next one is “Skoda” with total number of 32 cars sold. Top ten list also includes “Hyundai” (30 cars), “Nissan”, “Mitsubishi”, “Daewoo” (25 cars each), “Renault” and “Peugeot” (23 cars each), “BMW” (15 cars), “Dacia” (14 cars) and “Subaru” (10 cars). Sergey Solomonov, marketing manager of ‘DAAC-Hermes” company, which represents in Moldova such brands as “Renault”, “Skoda”, “Ford”, “Dacia”, “Citroen”, “Nissan”, told “BASA-press” that after the decrease in the import of old cars, which was first registered in 2004, the same tendencies take place in the first quarter of this year. According to the information offered by Solomonov, dealers improve the quality of services; propose more models, which are new for our market, and the customers’ financial status improved. People have a possibility to purchase cars in leasing for a term of up to 4 years. Dealers also provide assurance arrangements for a term of up to 3 years which is an incentive for customers to buy new cars. According to the estimation of independent experts, a substantial increase in sales of cars will take place in the second half of the year. Andrei Tabuika, chief editor of the specialized Chisinau magazine “AvtoExpert” mentioned that the second half of the year is a period which is more fruitful for dealers, especially speaking about autumn when the exhibition takes place. He also said that a new leasing law may become another factor which will increase sales. Also the law will ease the access of natural persons to leasing operations. Andrei Tabuika also accentuated that a new model of “Dacia Logan”, recently presented in Chisinau and “Lada Kalina”, which is planned to be presented in the second half of the year, may take advantage of a favorable market opportunities. In 2004, the import rates of cars of different production years constituted 16123 units, which is two times less than in 2003. Sales volume on the primary market increased by 12.5% to 3.1 thousand units, and their share in the total sales volume increased from 10% to 20%. About 40000 cars are purchased currently in the Republic of Moldova. Basa-press
