„Moldova may offer its own experience in the ICT field to the whole world”, Director of the ITU Office for Telecommunications Development mentioned

Mr. Sami Al Basheer Al Morshid, Director of the ITU Office for Telecommunications Development, visited the Centre for State Information Resources „Registru” to establish long-lasting cooperation relationships.

During the meeting, Mr. Vladimir Molojen, General Director of CSIR „Registru”, declared that the development of information society is the basic priority of the Centre and of the Republic of Moldova as a whole. „CSIR „Registru” is the basic pillar in the process of research and promotion of new projects and initiatives – a complex and dynamic process, which needs not only the efforts of an institution or a state, but the common efforts of more institutions from more states. Due to the geopolitical distribution of the Republic of Moldova territory, the country may also serve as a “cross-roads” of cooperation among states and international organizations”, Mr. Molojen added.

The guest was informed about “Biometric passport for Moldova” project supported by the European Union regarding visa liberalisation regime Moldova-UE.

Mr. Al Basheer Al Morshid was deeply impressed by the CSIR „Registru” achievements in the ICT field, being ready to offer assistance for future ideas and solutions exploration. „The initial goal of the visit was to offer support to the Republic of Moldova in the ICT field, but Moldova proved to have enough experience in the ICT field to offer to the whole world through ITU”, the guest concluded.

Mr. Sami Al Basheer Al Morshid, Director of the ITU Office for Telecommunications Development, is holding a working visit in the Republic of Moldova during August 15-18, 2010 to offer assistance for the economic development through the implementation of new information technologies and communications for all people.
