Administration of the State Enterprise “State Information Resources Centre “Registru” informs the Republic of Moldova population, that starting today, July 1, 2010, the Moldovan citizens have the possibility to apply for biometric passports within several districts of the country. Until present day, the Republic of Moldova citizens could apply for biometric passports only in Chisinau and Balti.

The Departments of population documentation from Soroca and Comrat will receive applications for biometric passport issuance within 1 month, 15,10,5 days and 24 hours. Similar departments from Cahul, Edinet and Briceni will render the same service, except biometric passport issuance within 24 hours. The applicants will receive their biometric passports within the application department.

Starting June 22, 2010 and until September 1, 2010, the Departments of population documentation from Chisinau have an extended working schedule. Thus, territorial departments will start the working day at 7:00 a.m. and end it at 9:00 p.m. The usual working schedule of the departments is from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Since June 1 and until June 30, 2010, the Departments of population documentation from Chisinau have issued 28 350 documents, nearly 1288 documents per day.
