On May 26, 2010 a group of experts from the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Office for Foreigners of the Republic of Poland visited the State Enterprise „SIRC „Registru”.
The main objective of the visit was familiarization with the legislation in force concerning population documentation, level of personal data protection and visa regime liberalization in the Republic of Moldova. In order to make a clear overview of the up-to-date situation regarding the level of integration, maintenance, update and protection of personal data, the guests were informed about the history of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communication and SE “SIRC “Registru”, about the existing projects and future prospects of the enterprise.
During the discussion about compulsory issuance of biometric passports to the Republic of Moldova citizens, the guests addressed a lot of questions to the enterprise administration concerning information included in the biometric passport, security level of this information, the present cost of the passport and the possibility of reducing this cost.
Mr. Vasile Ciornii, Deputy General Director of SE “SIRC “Registru”, mentioned that the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communication in cooperation with SE “SIRC “Registru” and other relevant institutions elaborated a draft law for changing article 2 of the Law No. 273-XIII dated November 9, 1994 on identity documents from the National Passport System, which has been sent to the parliamentary commission of the Parliament at the beginning of May 2010. The draft law foresees the optimisation of the process of population documentation with biometric passports, harmonization with EU regulations and elaboration of more efficient instruments of checking authenticity of data included in the passport.
The group of experts from the Republic of Poland is visiting the Republic of Moldova on May 26-28, 2010 with the aim to check compliance of national legislation to EU standards concerning visa liberalization regime. At the end of their visit, the experts will prepare a report, which will be presented to the representatives of European Union during the meeting from June 16, 2010 in Bruxelles.
